5 tips to getting the most from bundle sales (plus a review of Multi-Passionate Must-Haves)

Stack of Tetra Recart® packagesEver ended up burned by a bundle sale?

You know how it goes right?   A big name marketer or coach organises a bundle sale, and you can’t resist the temptation to check it out.

The sheer number of awesome-sounding products it contains makes you feel like a kid in a candy store.  There’s just so much cool stuff in there that you can’t wait to check out. It’s all so freaking SHINY!

So you pull out your credit card, hit the “buy” button and gleefully download everything.

Fast forward two months, and it’s all still sitting there, unopened, on your hard drive.  Or you’ve skimmed through a few of the products, but started hyperventilating as you tried to figure out exactly when you’re supposed to work through it all.

Either way you SWEAR you’re not going to do that again.

Yeah, me too – and I’m pretty sure we’re not alone

If you recognise yourself in the section above, I promise you, you’re not the only one.  With a couple of exceptions, that was pretty much my early experience of bundle sales.

Since then, however, I’ve discovered a few tips for getting my money’s worth from any bundle sales I invest in. Without stressing myself out or losing my sanity along the way.

So in this post, I wanted to share those tips, and then – briefly – review the bundle sale I’m honoured to be contributing to this week (Multi-Passionate Must-Haves).  That way, if the bundle sounds useful for you, you’ll know exactly how to get the most from it!

Here are my five tips to avoid getting burned again in future

1.  Decide whether what’s in the bundle is genuinely worth the price… for YOU

I’ve seen bundles in the past that totaled 9-10x  the cost of all the individual items in it… However, when I took out the cost of all the products I knew I’d never use, what was left came to less than the price of the bundle.

I used to think it was a bad thing if a bundle only had 2-3 products I really wanted in there.  Now, however, I see it as a plus.  I’m more likely to read and actually implement what I learn from 2-3 products than I am from 10-12 ones.  And if those 2-3 products add up to more than the price of the bundle for me, I know it’s genuinely a good deal.

2. If you’re not sure whether there’s enough in there to make it worth buying, do a quick training needs inventory

Especially in a bundle like Multi-Passionate Must-Haves,which is specifically designed for Multipotentialites, there’s a SERIOUSLY wide range of products.

So rather than starting by glancing through each one and asking whether it would be useful, it might help instead to start by figuring out what you need.  What areas of your business and life do you already know you want to work on?  Are there products in the bundle that’ll address those areas?   If so, then it’ll probably be a good buy for you.

3. Decide consciously which products you’re going to work through in which order

This advice might not work so well for the multipotentialites that Multi-Passionate Must-Haves  is aimed at, but it’s a must for me.  If I don’t know what I’m working on in what order, I get crazy-scattered and I don’t end up working on anything.

I normally like to pick my top 1-3 products from any bundle I buy, and make a conscious decision about the order I’ll work through those in first.  Everything else will still be there and waiting for me if I want it once I’ve got through these ones. But if I don’t make this decision consciously right up front, I’ll often end up not opening anything.

4. Block out time shortly after downloading everything to figure out what you’re going to do when

Again, this might not work for everyone, but I’ve discovered my critical window for product bundles is about a week. If I haven’t scheduled in a block of time by then to sit down and figure out what each of the products I want to work through will require me to do (and when I want to do it)?  It just doesn’t happen.

And if I don’t schedule in the time to figure that out, I rarely find time to go through any of the products spontaneously.  Your mileage may differ totally here, but this has definitely been true for me – so I know I’ll be doing it for Multi-Passionate Must-Haves.

5. Find a friend who’s interested in one or more of same the products you are, and is willing to buy the bundle too

Find a friend who’s interested in the same course you are, and you can create some accountability for not just reading, but actually implementing what you read.

This is something I’m having some awesome success with in one of my year-long self-study training programmes right now.  While, yes, I’m behind on the coursework, I’m a lot LESS behind than I would be if I was trying to go it on my own. And since “progress, not perfection” is fast becoming a mantra for me, the buddy system is something I’d like to do for the Multi-Passionate Must-Haves products I use too.

(So, errr… if you’re interested in Jen Louden’s “Ultimate Retreat”, Pace Smith’s World-Changing Writing Workshop, or Tanya Geisler’s “Board of your Life?  Let me know, ‘k? I’d love to do the accountability buddy thing with you!)

And, as promised, a quick review of Multi-Passionate Must-Haves

mpmh

If you haven’t already heard about this bundle from someone else in your tribe, Multi-Passionate Must-Havesis something Michelle Ward and Emilie Wapnick first created together last year.  It was insanely popular, so they’re doing it again this year (right now, in fact) with an all-new product line-up.

Products include the three I mentioned above, plus offerings from

  • Michelle (An Effective Escape) and Emilie (Supporting Multipotentialite Kids) themselves
  • Joel Zaslofsky (Digital Launch Playbook)
  • Kris Oster (Bewitch: Cast Your Spell to get the Customers You Crave)
  • Halley Gray (Launch Your First Profitable E-Course)
  • Kylie Bellard (Brilliant Boundaries)

… and 20 others including ummm… well, ME.

Seriously. I’m a little light-headed at getting my Energy Management 101 training pack featured alongside these folks.  In all, there are 30 products from 29 experts that total over $2,046 in value.

But for 72 hours, from May 20-22, Multi-Passionate Must-Haves will cost just $97

Here’s the Quick-n-Dirty Details

  • What: Michelle Ward & Emilie Wapnick’s Multi-Passionate Must-Haves (aff link)
  • Contains: 30 training products for multipotentialites from 29 experts, totalling $2,046.95 of value
  • Cost: $97 (but only till 11.59pm on May 22)
  • Conclusion: that all depends on your responses to my five tips above!  I’d definitely recommend checking out the info page and seeing what’s on offer.  Then, if you can see at least 1-3 products that you know you’ll use, and that total more than the $97 cost of the bundle, I’d say grab it!
